Today we mixed up a batch of colorful fall sugar cookie dough inspired by fall leaves from Tennessee. The students learned how to measure dry ingredients with measuring cups.
This is the first time we have used an electric hand-mixer this year.
There was a lesson on how to crack eggs, too.
My student photographer missed the food coloring steps. You separate the dough into different bowls and add food coloring. Then you mix the colored dough together. After that you roll the dough out on a floured surface and use a fall leaf cookie cutter to cut out cookies.
HOT from the oven! Yes, those are mouse ears and a miniature sized chef hat on my head. Today was "Put a CAP on drugs!" day for Red Ribbon Week.
The cookies turned out beautiful. I just wish we had time to add the chocolate piped veins on the leaves. Friday afternoons just aren't long enough.
